Progressive Action for Student Discipline

  •

In an effort to ensure safety,  consistency, and accountability on the school bus, the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ Transportation Department has adopted the following steps of progressive action. These guidelines will be used to enforce student conduct and bus rules. The following measures may be implemented:

SCHOOL BUS NOTICE OF UNSATISFACTORY CONDUCT

    1. 1st Offense: Disciplinary write-up issued and the parent/guardian is contacted by the bus driver. Discipline can include a conference with the school principal/designee.  The student will be warned that further infractions will result in suspension of riding privileges.
    2. 2nd Offense: Bus privileges suspended for 5 school days
    3. 3rd Offense: Bus privileges suspended for 10 school days
    4. 4th Offense: Bus privileges suspended for the remainder of the school year

Serious infractions may result in an immediate bus suspension.

    BUS PASS VIOLATIONS

The Transportation Department requires all students to possess a current semester/year bus pass and scan their pass every time they board and deboard the school bus.  The following standards of progressive action regarding abuse/misuse of the Transportation Fee Program are established and are separate from other behavior disciplinary measures:

Using or attempting to use an expired bus pass:

1st Offense:            Bus Referral issued by the driver

2nd Offense:           Bus privileges suspended for 5 school days

3rd Offense:           Bus privileges suspended for 10 school days

4th Offense:           Bus privileges suspended for the remainder of the school year

Using or attempting to use a stolen, found, or forged bus pass or fake ride tickets:

1st Offense:            Bus Referral issued by the driver

2nd Offense:           Bus privileges suspended for 5 school days

3rd Offense:           Bus privileges suspended for 10 school days

4th Offense:           Bus privileges suspended for the remainder of the school year

Allowing another student to use your bus pass:

1st Offense: Bus Pass will be confiscated, attached to a Bus ticket and turned into the school

2nd Offense: A prorated refund will be issued to the parent. Bus riding privileges shall be suspended for the remainder of the school year
